Safina Cottages was opened in December 2012. Since then we have become a well-established name in Diani and many of our guests like to come back again and again.

Safina comes from Kiswahili and means translated: “Noah’s Ark”. Our ark was built on a 4.000 m² large property. The heart of the complex is for sure our 14 x 7 meter pool, which invites you to swim, splash around or just relax. Sun beds are available around the pool. So every guest will find his or her preferred space. In addition to sunshades, our beautiful old tree population also offers plenty of shady spots, but also sun seekers do not miss out.

Our ark should be a place of relaxation and recreation. A place for travellers who want to spend their holidays away from package tourism – individual and yet well looked after. Whether single travellers, couples, families or groups – everyone is welcome in our Ark!

We ourselves live in the compound and are therefore available as contact persons for the concerns of our guests. We are happy to give tips on leisure activities (excursions, activities, events, nightlife, restaurants, safaris etc.) or help with the appropriate planning and arrangement.

Our facility is designed for self-catering. All accommodations are equipped with a full kitchen. There is no restaurant in our complex. However, drinking water can be purchased from us and you can also book your own cook (for an extra charge and advance booking). There are also countless restaurants in Diani, if you would like to go out for a meal.

Our construction plans were realized by a local architect and building contractor. It was important to us to work closely with the local people during the whole construction phase, thus directly creating jobs and supporting the local craftsmen.

A frank word about security: Despite much progress, Kenya is still a poor country and attacks on unsecured houses can occur. In order to make our guests’ stay with us as safe as possible, our complex is surrounded by a 2 meter high wall. Our property is equipped with an additional security fence and an alarm system. Our private security staff is on standby 24/7.
